How we chose the engine for Dalam World

Recommended Posts

In short, we tried making the game on different engines (from UE4–5 to Unity 6). But during the process, we created our own engine—one that delivers a beautiful image on older PCs with Windows XP and just 1 GB of RAM, with no lag. And it works great with 4K graphics and shaders on powerful computers!

In the video below, there’s an example of the game running on Unity 6. For us, Unity 6 was a great stepping stone: it let us quickly edit the map and see how the models look in practice, without heavy loading times in our engine.

And now for the most important part: as you can see, Unity 6 doesn’t allow high-quality settings to be loaded directly into the scene. (That’s why the video below was recorded from within Unity, which caused some lag and makes the models look slightly blurry.)

Overall, we aimed to achieve great visuals and eliminate lag on all PCs—and we did it!
The game includes 4K!
